Product Description

Ivory Indian Amulet

The amulet is the fight between a lion and an elephant. It is a reference to Kalila wa Dimna, tales of Indian origin that was adapted and disseminated in the Arab world to become a text of fables to help educate princes.

Jean de La Fontaine, french author, did not hide that these texts were a real source of inspiration for his own fables – when he did not make the literal translation for some.

The fight between an elephant and a lion appears in the tale “The lion and the camel”. It teaches that one should be wary of his closest advisers and not be too naïve, or else he will lose his skin.

Delivery worldwide.
