Vintage glass jar

• Pharmacy jar labeled “Boras Sodicus Int:” (Sodium borate) Belle Epoque doctors considered purified borax as an alkaline drug and a weak antiseptic, especially for the urinary tract. It was used as mouthwash, as well as for gargles. This disinfectant is used in mouthwashes. It was used in wet dressing against dermatitis. It is still used in France as an antiseptic cleanser of the eye in the form of eye drops.
